Lesson 3: Building Location Patient Lists In this lesson you will learn: How to Build a Location Patient List

Building Location Patient Lists A Location Patient List is one of the primary lists that Ambulatory staff members will use. It will show all patients admitted to a practice. By adding filters (discussed later) you can indicate certain criteria (i.e. that you only want patients who were seen within the last two days to display.)

Click New to activate the Patient List maintenance wizard. Building Location Patient Lists To begin building a Patient List, open the Modify Patients Lists dialog box by selecting List Maintenance from the Patient List toolbar. Click New to activate the Patient List maintenance wizard.

Building Location Patient Lists The system will prompt you to specify what type of List to build. You can choose any type of list that you want, based on your personal preferences. To build a Location list, select Location and click Next.

Building Location Patient Lists Begin specifying the location that you want to select for your Patient List by double-clicking the Locations folder (or clicking the + sign to expand the folder). Click the ‘+’ sign (or double click) beside your practice. The category will expand. Put a checkmark in the locations that you want displayed.

Building Location Patient Lists You also drill down to the Pod level by expanding your practice’s category. The system will automatically create a name for the Patient List based on the locations that you have chosen. If you wish to change the name of the Patient List, enter the name in the Name box.

Building Location Patient Lists Click the Admission Criteria filtering category. Patient Lists Select the option button, “Only display patients that have been admitted within the last 12 hours.” This will ensure that your patient list only displays today’s patients. Click Finish.

Building Location Patient Lists Move the list to the Active Lists box by clicking on the new Patient List in the Available Lists box and clicking the right arrow. Click OK to save changes and return to your Patient List.

Building Location Patient Lists The Patient List will be displayed.

Building Location Patient Lists Select the checkboxes only for the location levels that you want displayed in your Patient List. For example, if you want to display only the Waiting Room, do not select all of Chesapeake Pediatrics – Oakbrooke location.

You can build a variety of Patient Lists Remember, you can build a variety of Patient Lists based on your role and your location. If you are Front Desk staff member, you will want to use a Location Patient List to see who is in the waiting room and has been checked in. Or, if you are a Nurse assigned to a specific Pod, you want to create a Patient List drilled down to the pod level so that you can see all patients in that pod.
