January First Choice Topic Nanotechnology, Materials, Production Technologies, Call 1 Advanced Wood-Based Composites and their Production Ecological and safe machining of wood-based composites. A promising and innovative technology in terms of : Safety, Operator's health, Tool life increment, Parts cleanliness, Machine performance, Machine and fixturing maintenance, etc... Page 3
January Key Competencies and skills (I) SEPMAC Project (FP5): Development of a New Integrated System for Ecological High Speed Machining using Internal Chip Evacuation. Project Goal: Full chip removal through tool and spindle, elimination of chips from working space Advantages of the new technology: Safe and clean working area. No operators health hazard. Clean and dry workpieces, do not require further cleaning. Immediate chip processing. Flexible machining / less tools required. Compatible with tool-shank standards (HSK, ISO). Simple- do not require additional devices. The promising results encouraged the research group to explore new materials and applications Page 4
