Alterations in PUFA metabolism and flux through the P450/sEH pathway related to hypoxia and activation of the renin-angiotensin system. Alterations in PUFA metabolism and flux through the P450/sEH pathway related to hypoxia and activation of the renin-angiotensin system. Hypoxia induces the expression of numerous P450 enzymes and at the same time decreases the expression of the sEH, thus elevating the generation of PUFA epoxides and preventing their degradation. AngII, on the other hand, increases the expression of the sEH, thus essentially exhausting the intracellular epoxides and increasing diol levels. AngII, angiotensin II.
