Making Sense of MLA Format Proper citation & styling for the study of English
Why do I have to do this? Once upon a time in a boring land far, far away, the Powers That Be gathered atop Mount Finicky to decide how each academic discipline would cite its sources. Some disciplines, like history and psychology, chose footnoting. English, however, felt it was too special for footnotes. It selected MLA format and the Powers that Be declared that all those who study English must cite using MLA format
The Internet has Information! Facebook, Twitter, LOLcats, hilarious Fail blog videos…actual information?? Stuck? Google “MLA format” No excuse for inaccuracies

A good title is interesting AND informative NOT “Poe Essay” or “Essay “ Try a two-parter title interest catcher: informative piece “Death Becomes Her: A Psychological Examination of Lady MacBeth’s Homicidal Tendencies

Part Two Works Cited
Works Cited Works cited = work is CITED (quoted) in the essay
Citing a Short Story found Online Author’s last name, First name. "Short story name" Website name. Publisher, date of electronic publication. Date accessed. URL (optional).
Example: “The Black Cat” Poe, Edgar Allan. “The Black Cat.” PoeStories.com. Design 215 Inc., 2005. September, 2014.
You might also need to cite… A book with more than one author A movie An article in an online journal or newspaper TV or radio program Work of art A government publication
