O Come, let us sing for joy to the LORD; let us shout joyfully to the rock of our salvation. Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms. For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods. Psa 95:1-3

Come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the LORD our Maker. For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture, and the sheep of His hand. Today, if you would hear His voice, do not harden your hearts, as at Meribah, as in the day of Massah in the wilderness. Psa 95:6-8

We then, as workers together with Him also plead with you not to receive the grace of God in vain. For He says: “In an acceptable time I have heard you, and in the day of salvation I have helped you.” Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation. 2 Cor 6:1-2

Take care, brethren, lest there should be in any one of you an evil, unbelieving heart, in falling away from the living God. But encourage one another day after day, as long as it is still called “Today,” lest any one of you be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. Heb 3:12-13

The Scripture places an emphasis on the most important day…“today.” It is the only day in which obedient activity can take place. We even have quaint sayings that emphasize the value of “today.”

Today is a gift…that is why it is called “the present.” Yesterday is history… Tomorrow is a mystery… Today is a gift…that is why it is called “the present.”

We also know there is only one Being who stands above the constraints of time. He is the One who exhorts to value the day He has given us to live and serve Him.

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today, yes and forever. Heb 13:8

When we awoke this morning, we all knew what day this is. Today is the Lord’s day. We are thankful for another opportunity to worship and serve our God.

We need to recognize our obligations to God “today.” If He allows us to see tomorrow, may we serve Him with the same fervor then.
