Confirmation Year 2 Informational Meeting Please make sure you picked up the handouts in the back of the Learning Center!

Confirmation Sponsors What does a sponsor do? Supports the candidate in their commitment to live the Christian life. Encourages the candidate to continue growing in their relationship with God both before Confirmation and after. Checks in with the candidate after Confirmation to see how things are going, offering support to the candidate as they live out the graces received in their Confirmation (boldly living out their faith).

Confirmation Sponsors What are the characteristics of a Confirmation sponsor? At least sixteen years of age and be a fully initiated Catholic who has celebrated Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation and be someone who practices his/her faith and is living according to the teachings of the Catholic Church. Supports the person to be confirmed in their commitment to a Christian life. Must know the candidate and be willing to serve as a strong and long-lasting Christian influence on the candidate. Must be fully initiated themselves, having received Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist.

Confirmation Sponsors May not be the parents of the candidate (and preferably not a grandparent, as they already have a special relationship with the candidate). Preference is given to the candidate's Godparents, which most fully expresses the integral connection between Baptism and Confirmation. Assists in determining the candidate's readiness for the Sacrament. Presents the candidate to Most Reverend Bishop Salvatore Matano at the celebration of Confirmation.

Confirmation Sponsors If you have not yet chosen a Confirmation Sponsor, please try to do so by the end of January at the latest.

Choosing a Saint’s Name God calls all of us to a unique mission in life. What do you think your mission is? Our name tells others who we are. Who is God calling you to be?

Choosing a Saint’s Name Two options for a saint’s name: Option 1: Your Baptismal Name Option 2: Choose a saint who you admire and/or especially relate to.

Choosing a Saint’s Name Whoever you choose, ask this saint to pray for you throughout your life, and especially on your Confirmation day! Please visit our website to find links to help you choose a saint! After you have chosen a saint, please fill out the online form so that we will know your saint’s name, as well as your sponsor’s name.

Choosing a Saint’s Name Please also email (or give) Lisa a paragraph about your saint, including the following 3 things: Why you chose that particular saint’s name The date of your saint’s feast day Some ways you would like to model your life after the life of this saint PLEASE complete all of the above by no later than the 2nd Candidate/Sponsor Meeting (March 11th).
