Promoting Biodiversity! Science Discussion Panel

So WHAT is it? After reading https://www.nature.com/scitable/topicpage/panel- discussions-13909630 Summarize what a panel discussion is. How it would look in the classroom?

How to have a conversation https://youtu.be/H6n3iNh4XLI Start at 4:29

Example Watch the video clip of a science discussion panel https://youtu.be/4OzMv0t0j20 First 8 min

The standards Evaluate the impact of habitat fragmentation and destruction, invasive species, overharvesting, pollution, and climate change on biodiversity (genetic, species, and ecosystem).  Engage in argument from scientific evidence critiquing effectiveness of the Endangered Species Act. Give specific examples to support your argument.

Guiding Questions What impacts biodiversity? Explain the effectiveness of the Endangered Species Act

Group Roles Moderator – this person is assigned by me! habitat fragmentation and destruction expert invasive species expert Overharvesting expert Pollution expert climate change expert  Endangered Species Act expert If not enough group members, overharvesting and habitat loss experts are a combined role

What will this look like? How much time do you need? What are the expectations? How do you want to be graded? Should we invite guests? Also, each expert is responsible for sending me 2 WELL WRITTEN multiple choice questions that will be covered in your discussion - including answers. If revisions are needed, you are responsible for making that happen. One of your question needs to include a text, chart, graph, or diagram to reference.
