CO2 Effect on WLTc Phase weighting. 08.10.2013 BMW Group, Dr. Christoph Mayer, Dr. Andreas Eder CO2 Effect on WLTc Phase weighting. Comparison WLTP DB with BWM Customer Data.

Representative vehicle and market specific customer group BMW Customer Data. Customer selection and Data acquisition. Customer survey Customer selection Customer alignment Representative vehicle and market specific customer group Interview Data recording / analysis Parameters of this study:  9 Vehicle-Types (7 Ger, 1 Fr, 1 UK) in all BMW relevant segments 161 customers / vehicles overall mileage 1.25 Mio km

BMW Group data show higher average distance per day. WLTC In consideration of all available data, WLTP DB represents a robust average of speed and driven distance per day.

BMW Group data show higher average speeds and less stop percentage. WLTC 5.3 In consideration of all available data from different OEMs, WLTC 5.3 without phase weighting represents a robust average of stop percentage and average speed.

BMW Group data show higher average speeds and less stop percentage. 75/25* * 60/40* WLTC 5.3 40/60* 25/75* In consideration of all available data from different OEMs, WLTC 5.3 without phase weighting represents a robust average of stop percentage and average speed.

WLTC 5.3 generates a representative CO2 value. Counter Proposal Alternative 1 Alternative 2 Closest to BMW data CO2 impact does not justify disharmonization due to phase weighting. Recommendation: Same weighting of all four WLTC phases.
