TB/HIV Working Group... Working group (WG) as TB/HIV Advisory body to WHO and STB-P Recommendations to guide WHO’s and STB-P work on TB/HIV Beyond…. WG as a body “bridging” TB and HIV/AIDS health communities welcome to HIV dept and UNAIDS World Health Organization

TB/HIV Working Group Progress Strategic Framework on TB/HIV (Geneva 2001) Guidelines on how to implement PIAs (Durban, 2002) ProTEST pilots analysed (Durban, 2003) Policy document to guide countries on which interventions are employed under the various circumstances World Health Organization

What NTPs and NACPs need to do Two diseases: one patient, one community NTPs to expand their focus: VCT, Cotrimox, referral, ICF, IPT... NACPs to achieve “3 by 5” NTPs can “offer” ~ 500,000 HIV(+) TB patients /year in Africa alone World Health Organization
