Flemington Racecourse is a major racing venue in Melbourne, the track due to its surface condition needed a new surface, and with this a complete new drainage system to handle Melbournes downpours and alleviate the issues of the past

Material to be non leaching material Connect to standard pipe fittings Pipe to be 225mm Stormwater Meet AS1477 Pipe Standards Meet a specific open area to suit track conditions To be slotted to the required drawings To be SWJ (Solvent Weld Joint)

The solution was to use 225mm Standard Stormwater Pipe. The Pipe used by Deps was Manufactured to Australian Standard (AS)1477. Slot pattern machined was, 4mm wide slots by 4 rows with a Vertical Slot The above specification allowed the collection of water from the surface at the rate required.

To use Australian Pipe Manufactured to AS1477 The slotted pipe was machines on one our automated slotters to the required pattern specifications

Due to the large quantities and a specific delivery time required a split shift was used to machine the pipe. The Pipes once machined and inspected where packed in crates and when a truck load was ready, it would be delivered directly to Flemington.

Case Study Find other suppliers in Australia Use standard slotted drain pipe that would not meet the specifications. Use Imported cheap pipe. Slot pattern by using hand tools. Thus having inconsistent slot width and patterns. The above method cannot guarantee open area or drainage are meet.
