GO E4 The Issues of Space Exploration

Issues Related to Space Exploration Debate rages over the money, time and resources spent on sending equipment and people into space. Some people argue there are so many problems on earth to be solved (poverty, hunger, pollution, epidemics) – the money should go towards relieving suffering on own planet Other argue that we learn by exploring and it could help us find ways of improving life on Earth. Also as our population continues to grow, technology is allowing scientists to look for resources elsewhere.

Is Space Exploration worth it?

Ethical Issues: A problem or situation that requires a person or organization to choose between alternatives that must be evaluated as right (ethical) or wrong (unethical). Do we have the right to alter materials in space to meet our own needs? How can we ensure that exploration will be used for good and not evil? .

Who can use the resources in space? 2. Political Issues: A problem or situation that deals with politics. Who owns Space? Who can use the resources in space?

3. Environmental Issues: A problem or situation that deals with concerns around the environmental impact Who is responsible for protecting space environments from alteration? Who is responsible for cleaning up space junk?
