Education

Art. XIV Sec. 1 The State shall protect and promote the right of all citizens to quality education at all levels and shall take appropriate steps to make such education accessible to all.

XIV Sec. 2 Establish, maintain, and support a complete, adequate, and integrated system of education relevant to needs of the people and society;… Encourage non-formal, informal, and indigenous leaning systems as well as self-learning, independent, and out-of-school study programs particularly those that respond to community needs;…

Art. XIV Sec. 3.1 All educational institutions shall include the study of the Constitution as part of the curricula

Art. XIV Sec. 3.2 They shall inculcate patriotism and nationalism, foster love for humanity, respect for human rights, appreciation of the role of our heroes in the historical development of the country, teach the rights and duties of citizenship. Strengthen ethical and spiritual values, develop moral character and personal discipline, encourage critical and creative thinking, broaden scientific and technological knowledge, and promote vocational efficiency.

Art. XIV Sec. 6: Language The national language of the Philippines is Filipino. As it evolves, it shall further develop and enrich on the basis of existing Philippine and other languages. … the Government shall take steps to initiate and sustain the use of Filipino as a medium of official communications and as language of instruction in the educational system.

Academic Freedom: School Admin The right of the school administration to determine who may teach and who may be admitted to study. It includes the right to prescribe their own academic standards of excellence. It has the right to accept or deny a student depending if the student has met/not met the criteria.

Academic Freedom: Teachers/Academics In higher institutions, it includes the right to choose the preferred teaching methods, learning-processes, materials, and other aids as long as it does not violate basic norms of conduct and morality. Freedom to discuss disciplines/sciences to their students and express their works through academic publications

Academic Freedom: Students Freedom to express their own opinions or sentiments within or outside the school premises, Freedom to talk, communicate, or even argue constructively with their teachers and with their school authorities or via their school publication.
