State Learning Standard 1 Personal Health and Fitness Students will perform basic motor and manipulative skills. Attain a level of competency in a variety of activities and a level of proficiency in a few activities. Students will design personal fitness programs to meet their individual needs. Learning Standard work as a progression from ES to HS commencement level. 3 basic concepts (read) 1/16/2019

Methods Drills and skills that promote fine and gross motor movement. Lead up activities and initiatives. Individual and group activities. Structured games and sports. Physical fitness testing (pre and post tests). Activities that promote leadership, problem solving, teamwork, and self evaluation. (Adventure Education) Participation in actual training programs. Lectures and written tests. 1/16/2019

State Learning Standard 2 Safe and Healthy Environment Students will demonstrate responsibility during activities. Students will understand that physical activity provides the opportunity for enjoyment, challenge, self-expression, and communication. Students will be able to identify safety hazards and react effectively to ensure a safe experience for all participants. 1/16/2019

Methods Teach and review safety guidelines for each activity. Inspect facilities and equipment for possible safety hazards. Demonstrate proper care and use of equipment. Lecture on the possible risk involved if physical activities are performed incorrectly. Demonstrate an understanding of a balance between cooperative and competitive behavior, showing respect and acknowledging accomplishments of others. Demonstrate a variety of roles to accomplish goals. Reward safe behavior, and correct unsafe behavior to ensure the safety of others (remove student from activity if dangerous to others). Student accountability by using safety concerns in grading. READ 1/16/2019

State Learning Standard 3 Resource Management Students will be aware of and be able to access community based activities. Students will be aware of career options in the field of physical fitness and sports. Resource Management 1/16/2019

Methods Make students aware of community based activities. Make references to jobs related to physical fitness and sports as we progress through the curriculum. Plan and participate in family or community sponsored activities. Build self confidence and experience through participation in simulated community activities. Community Activities -Announcements and Posting -Sign up dates Simulated activities: When possible simulate the rules from community leagues to help with transition from school to community. 1/16/2019
