Whirlwind tour of world religions

What is religion?

Some people choose to follow a religious path in life. Others do not Some people choose to follow a religious path in life. Others do not. For those who do, their religion can affect their lives in very small or very large ways. Let’s think of a few ways that religion (either our own religion, or the religion of those around us or who have power) might impact our lives.

On a piece of notebook paper, please write down the following religions, leaving enough room between them for about two sentences. Hinduism Christianity Judaism Islam Buddhism

Please write two facts about each religion as the video plays Please write two facts about each religion as the video plays. http://ed.ted.com/lessons/the-five-major- world-religions-john-bellaimey

Silently to yourself, think of two things all of these religions have in common. Do not share until I say so!

Turn to a shoulder partner, and take turns sharing what you think these religions all have in common.

Finally, on your paper, please write three sentences about how someone following one of these five religions might incorporate faith into their daily life. I encourage you to write about a religion that you do not practice, so that you can see the world through someone else’s eyes!
