All Summer In A Day

Answer these questions . . . (1 or 2 sentences. You do not have to use RACE) What are the “clues” you use to “uncover” someone’s personality? How do you know the “good” guy from the “bad” guy in a book or a movie? How can other people give you “clues” about a person? How does a writer (book or movie) tell you about the character?

Write about a time when your whole world changed.

In All Summer in a Day, the children live on Venus in a society that only sees the sun for an hour every seven years. This would be a dystopian society. A dystopia is an imaginary community or society that is undesirable or frightening. It is literally translated as "not-good place", the antonym of utopia which is a perfect society. Dystopian societies appear in many artistic works, particularly in stories set in a future. Hunger Games, Divergent, City of Ember, etc. Make up your own utopian society. What would your perfect world look like? Draw a map on the paper provided. Cover the entire paper Label each area, building, landscape, etc. Use at least 8 prepositional phrases on the map (over the mountain, under the waterfall, etc.) and underline them. MUST BE IN COLOR. On the back of the paper, explain your society. What kind of government would you have? How does your society get their good? What does your society do with their waste? How do your citizens get from one place to Another?
