Lessons From the Old Testamant Genesis 34 This chapter is not particularly a pleasant one. While Jacob and his people are temporarily living in Shechem, Dinah, one of Jacob and Lehi’s daughters, is abducted and raped. Simeon and Levi get revenge by inviting all the men of the area to join their church, which requires them to be circumcised . In an attempt to restore peace between them and Jacobs people, they agree to this. Then, while the men are incapacitated because of the surgery, Simeon and Levi go to the city and kill all of them. They then plunder the city. This was not what Jacob wanted and he told them so, adding that his sons had make him “to stink among the inhabitants of the land” lead into love or lust
