Chapter 25.1-Beginnings of Industrialization Student Objectives: Analyze why the Industrial Revolution began in Britain Explain key inventions that progressed the IR Identify transportation improvements and the impact of railroads on British industry

Beginning the IR 1700s-beginning of Industrial Revolution Began with agricultural revolution Large landowners bought huge amounts of land Led to enclosures Higher crop yields Forced small farmers to move to cities Jethro Tull (seed drill) Crop rotation (maximize crop output and restore nutrients) Improvements in livestock Think about the revolutions we have learned thus far in this course (ie French Revolution). Based on this, as well as the word industry, what do you think was what happened during the Industrial Revolution? What is the purpose of crop rotation? How did this, as well as the seed drill and improvements in livestock lead to a different standard of living? Was it better or worse than before? Why?

Based on the IR and last slide, what occupation do you think this large population was involved with? Based on the idea of industrialization, what do you think are some natural resources that are necessary to be successful? What were the four factors of production needed for the industrialization?
