Hush & Something Wicked This Way Comes Connections Between “The Gentlemen” And Mr. Dark Power Point by Sarah Moje via www.BrightHubEducation.Com

Excerpt One “That man in a dark suit, seen through the saloon window, across the street….His eyes, a fierce and lustful shine, fixed on Charles Halloway. Smiling, he gestured an open hand.”

Excerpt Two “Then a tall man stepped down from the train caboose platform like a captain assaying the tidal weathers of this inland sea. All dark suit, shadow faced, he waded to the center of the meadow, his shirt as black as the gloved hands he now stretched to the sky. He gestured, once. And the train came to life.”

Excerpt Three “The man was as tall as a lamp post. His vest was the color of fresh blood. His eyebrows, his hair, his suit were licorice black, and the sun-yellow gem which started from tie pin thrust in his cravat was the same unblinking shade and bright crystal as his eyes.

Excerpt Three (cont.) “It was the suit that fascinated Will. The suit caught light and stirred like a bed of black tweed-thorns. Here he stood, moon-calm, inhabiting his itch weed suit and watching Jim. Mr. Dark clenched his fist, wriggled his fingers. The muscles danced.”

The Autumn People “1860, 1846, Same name. Dark and Couger. Beware the autumn people. For these beings, fall is the ever normal season, the only weather, there be no choice beyond. Where do they come from? The dust. Where do they go? The grave. Does blood stir in their veins? No, the night wind. What ticks in their head? The worm…They sift the human storm for souls…They frenzy forth…the spider web hears them, trembles, breaks. Such are the autumn people. Beware of them.”

What Is Hush? It is an episode from the 4th season of “Buffy The Vampire Slayer.” It features almost no dialogue at all. The story is told through NON-VERBAL communication. The characters “The Gentlemen” share some similarities with our Mr. Dark.

“The Gentlemen” Rhyme Can't even shout, can't even cry The Gentlemen are coming by. Looking in windows, knocking on doors, They need to take seven and they might take yours. Can't call to mom, can't say a word, You're gonna die screaming but you won't be heard.

Video Clip We will now watch a few segments from the episode. The gentlemen have already arrived in town. Watch what happens after they take people’s voices. DO NOT TALK while the clip is on. We will watch in silence.
