Presentation transcript:

Foul Water Lab I. Purpose: -To purify a 100ml sample of foul water as much as possible -To learn about “opportunity cost” in decision-making -To learn about municipal water treatment

II. Materials/Procedure: First, come up with a Hypothesis (what you think will be the best way to clean the water). Next, you will leave room on the front side of your lab to write out your procedure steps in such a way that an independent citizen could come in and reproduce your lab. Pictures could be helpful (and probably necessary to get full credit). You should include all materials used.

III. Data Table Water Quality Action Brown, stinky, floaties, oily Water amount at start _______ml Water amount at end ____ml

IV. Questions 1. What was the best water cleaning method? How do you think it worked? 2. If you had a chance to repeat the lab, what would you do differently? 3. How do you think cities purify water before it is used by the public?

V. Conclusion Discuss the objectives. Be sure to explain what “opportunity cost” means.
