Draw this on your new catalyst sheet. Title it “Coulombic Attractions” Catalyst: Monday, Oct. 15 Draw this on your new catalyst sheet. Title it “Coulombic Attractions”

Catalyst: Monday, Oct. 15 Environmental Impacts - Acid drainage from the equipment - Toxic water end up in groundwater. - Abandoned mining sites can continue polluting groundwater after the mining has ceased. -Water must be pumped out of the mine during the mining process. After the mine is abandoned, the pumping stops, and the water floods the mine. -The toxic water that flows out can find its way to streams and rivers, this changes the pH levels and harms the wildlife found there. List 1 anthropogenic and 1 environmental disadvantage of subsurface mining

Catalyst: Wednesday, Oct. 18 4, 5, 6 – Presentations are tomorrow! List 3 harmful compounds that are emitted through the burning of coal. Would you consider these primary or secondary pollutants?

Catalyst: Thursday, Oct. 19 What do YOU think “ionization” means? What about “energy”?

Catalyst: Thursday, Oct. 19 Your refrigerator uses 600 watts of energy. If it runs 12 hours per day (which is 30 minutes per hour), how much energy in kWh does it use per year?

Catalyst: Friday, Oct. 20 Answer: 36.    Four kittens can catch four mice in four minutes, so    one kitten can catch one mouse in four minutes, so    one kitten can catch three mice in twelve minutes, so    twelve kittens can catch 36 mice in twelve minutes. If four kittens can catch four mice in four minutes... ...how many mice can twelve kittens catch in twelve minutes?

Catalyst: Friday, Oct. 20 The light aircraft, whilst over the local forest, caught fire. Landing quickly was now the pilot's priority. Luckily a nearby airfield responded to the pilot's mayday and the situation was brought under control as soon as the aircraft landed. Can you find the hidden country in the following paragraph: The light aircraft, whilst over the local forest, caught fire. Landing quickly was now the pilot's priority. Luckily a nearby airfield responded to the pilot's mayday and the situation was brought under control as soon as the aircraft landed.
