2nd Division Executive Conference July 27-28, 2018 Cuyo, Palawan ISSUES AND CONCERNS Aurelia B. Marquez Chief Education Supervisor Curriculum Implementation Division 2nd Division Executive Conference July 27-28, 2018 Cuyo, Palawan

FOR KINDERGARTEN 1. D.O. # 20, s. 2018, dated April 19, 2018- amendment to D.O, 47, s. 2016 otherwise known as Omnibus Policy on Kindergarten Education “ clarifying that the cut-off age is applicable for both public and private and providing for transitory provisions to accommodate Kinder and Grade 1 enrollees for SY 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 who may be affected by this policy and for other purposes.

Enrolment Procedure Age qualification for both public and private schools should be 5 years old by June 1 every calendar year. However, the school may consider learners entering Kinder who will turn 5 years old by August on the condition that Phil. ECD must be administered to the learner PRIOR to the start of the SY to ensure that the learner is capable of meeting the expectation of Grade one level, - Domains where he failed will be the focus of the intervention.

3. Learners who will turn 5 years old by SY 2018-2019 can be accepted to K provided they pass the Phil ECD checklist- it means that the child must pass the Phil, ECD checklist before enrolling in Gr 1. How sure are you that the result of the ECD is valid and reliable?

Submission of District Consolidated report On ECD result during the opening of classes, only Cagayancillo and Culion are not able to submit this report. If you have your report with you, please hand it to me.

For SPED PSDSes are reminded to submit the SPED data this SY by using the prescribed templates. These data will be the basis for provision of SPED items and determining future trainings.

PROJECT WERP Division Orientation Training on Wellness and Emotional resiliency Program (WERP) shall be on September 20-21, 2018 for selected Grades 4-6 and Grades 7-12 EsP Teachers/Guidance Counselors /Coordinators

AS TO THE ELLN IMPLEMENTATION, As per instruction from the Bureau of Learning delivery (BLD), NEVER assign a teacher who has been trained in ELLN to other grade levels. i.e. Teacher Ana who was trained in key stage 1, don’t assign her to teach Grade 6. Whenever there is a coordinatorship assigned to an individual(Prin.,PSDS,Tchr.), files of data should not be monopolized. Let all DATA BE ACCESSIBLE TO ALL so that whenever the higher office calls for report, anybody could help in complying what is being asked for.(assign one desktop as data bank)

GENTLE BUT URGENT REMINDER It’s been the 2nd month of SY 2018-2019, we are really hoping that Class Programs and loads of teachers are now in place. This reminder is an offshoot of the monitoring of the OBE last June where there were some schools found to have not finalized their class programs and loads of teachers which supposedly regular classes should have commenced on June 4, 2018.

THOUGHTS TO PONDER Since the CURRICULUM is the heart of education, whatever achievement we desire, greatly relies on the quality of instruction our teachers are giving to our learners and of course this critically depends on the kind of supervision of instruction we are extending to the teachers.
