Objectives To identify methods of navigating documents. To show tools which can be used or added to help navigate documents.

Main Menu Navigation Tools Using Navigation Tools in Documents

Navigation Tools Can be used to: Include: find items in a document move to different locations in a document mark different locations in a document Include: find and replace hyperlinks bookmarks

Find Tool Can be used to locate terms in a document Is located on the Home tab in the Editing group Can be activated by clicking the Find icon Opens the Navigation Pane Keyboard Shortcut: Control + F

Find Tool Can be used by typing in the term or terms being looked for in the search bar in the Navigation Pane

Replace Tool Can be used to locate terms and replace them with another term or terms Is located on the Home tab in the Editing group Can be opened by clicking on the Replace icon opens the Find and Replace dialog box Keyboard Shortcut: Control + H

Replace Tool Can be used by typing in the term a user wants to replace in the Find what menu and then typing in the term they want to replace it with in the Replace with menu and then clicking Replace or Replace All

Hyperlinks Are text or graphics which have been linked to another location such as in the document or to websites or other files When clicked takes a user to the destination specified Can be added by selecting the text or object and clicking the Hyperlink icon on the Insert tab in the Links group to open the Insert Hyperlink dialog box Keyboard Shortcut: Control + K

Hyperlinks Can be added to an existing file by choosing the file Can be added to a web page by entering the web address Can be added to a location in the document by choosing the location To Remove a Hyperlink: Right-click on the hyperlink and choose Remove Hyperlink from the menu

Bookmarks Can be entered to make it easy to find a specific location or text in a document Are not visible in the text of a document Can be entered by selecting the text or object and then clicking the Bookmark icon on the Insert tab in the Links group to open the Bookmark dialog box

Bookmarks Can be added by naming the Bookmark and choosing Add Can be sorted by name or location in the document Can be removed by clicking Delete Can be navigated to by clicking Go To
