Review: Constitutional Convention Last week we discussed the Constitutional Convention. Three branches of government: Executive, Legislative, and Judicial Legislative branch would be bicameral: Senate, with 2 reps from each state, and House, with membership based on each state’s population. South had a larger population because of slaves; delegates from the North didn’t want the slave population to count. Finally, they settled on the three-fifths compromise: Each slave would count as 3/5 of a person, for purposes of the population count.
Westward Expansion SS8H4: Explain significant factors that affected westward expansion in Georgia between 1789 and 1840. Explain reasons for the establishment of the University of Georgia, and for the westward movement of Georgia’s capitals.
