What is the Innovation Fund? ULTSEC awards to teams and individuals Up to £5000 funding for each of 10 projects Institutional support for learning, teaching and student experience projects Pump-priming the development of new or innovative approaches Welcome ‘Factual’ information: what the IFund is, and why it’s important ... not just one lightbulb moment but lots of them (hence the Christmas tree with lights)
Why might it be good for me? Project 2012 has been a priority across NU and we’re already seeing the benefits of what we’ve achieved Innovation Fund emphasises local priorities and how these link with institutional aims Wouldn’t it be great if... If I had the resource I’d... I need time to think I wonder what they’re doing over there...
Innovation Fund themes for 2013 Assessment and feedback Retention through student engagement marking criteria fairness of assessment arrangements and marking timeliness of feedback usefulness of feedback ...? closely linked with a course or taking a broader, extra-curricular approach focus on approaches before registration and/or students’ first weeks at NU or taking a longer view focus on ‘risk’ periods Overview of themes for 2013 call. Could note that additional projects may be funded outside these themes
Student involvement in projects Project ideas put forward in partnership with mixed student/staff teams Projects that engage students in doing the project, not just as recipients or beneficiaries The conductor can help musicians play, but doesn’t do the playing for them Students are members of the University community, guided by staff
Who does this benefit? The staff and students involved in the project The Academic Units/Services involved in the project Other Academic Units/Services at NU Your subject area/discipline Other subject areas/disciplines
