Nicaraguan Revolution Causes & consequences

Main Cause 1. The Nicaraguan people did not agree with the Somoza’s regime (dictatorship) from 1933 to 1979. 2. US Goverment Intervention 3. Corruption of the Nicaraguan Goverment Anastacio Somoza (Father) Anastacio Somoza (son) Ronald Reagan (US President)

Character of Revolution The main character was Augusto Sandino, a young man who lived in Mexico during the Mexican Revolution. He was the first opponent to the Somoza family.

“Frente Sandinista para la Liberacion Nacional (FSLN)” Daniel Ortega, Humberto Ortega and Víctor Tirado, used ideas known as “terceristas” in urban regions (guerrillas) to obtain the support of the nicaraguan people. And tookover the power in 1979.

What would have happened if Somoza had not allied with USA? May be, if Somoza had not allied with the US: a. He would not have obtained the presidency. b. His family would not been the richest family in Nicaragua. c. The Nicaraguan people would have had a better quality life. d. Nicaragua would be one of the most prosperous Central American countries. e. Nicaragua would have developed socially, educationally and economically before other countries in Central America, including CR. f. They would not have had another civil war.
