Stem-and-Leaf Plots
Monday, October 20 Learning Target- I can construct and interpret a stem-and-leaf plot for a set of data.
Foldable Take your sheet of paper and fold it so that you create two flaps. The one on the left should be slightly smaller than the one on the right.
Foldable On the left flap, write the word “STEM” Then write: The stem is the place value column(s) that the numbers have in common. The stem can be more than one digit.
Foldable On the right flap, write the word “LEAVES.” Then write: The leaves are the different last digits. Leaves can ONLY BE ONE NUMBER. If a leaf is repeated, list it more than once. Leaves are listed from least to greatest for each stem.
