May. 2007 Conclusions CDMA code and contention-based access have both advantages and disadvantages Depending upon the scenario, one is better than the other Two mechanisms should be included Initial ranging shall be performed by CDMA only For the others, both CDMA code and contention-based access can be used Contention-based access is needed for CBP anyway Hence, the same engine can be reused (no increased complexity) Chang-Joo Kim, ETRI
