“But what about you? Who do you say I am?” - Jesus

“What Do You Think?” - Jesus

“Why Does Integrity Matter?”

Area #1: Unbelief Rejects Jesus

John 1: 5, 10-11 5 The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it. 10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. 11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him.

John 11:1 – 12:9 Jesus Raises Lazarus from the Dead Conspiracy to Kill Jesus and Lazarus

John 5: 41-44 41 “I do not accept praise from men, 42 but I know you. I know that you do not have the love of God in your hearts. 43 I have come in my Father’s name, and you do not accept me; but if someone else comes in his own name, you will accept him. 44 How can you believe if you accept praise from one another, yet make no effort to obtain the praise that comes from the only God?”

Mark 9: 19-23   19 “O unbelieving generation,” Jesus replied, “how long shall I stay with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring the boy to me….”  21 Jesus asked the boy’s father, “How long has he been like this?”    “From childhood,” he answered. 22 “It has often thrown him into fire or water to kill him. But if you can do anything, take pity on us and help us.”    23 “‘If you can’?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for him who believes.”  24 Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!”

Area #2: Gratitude Honors Jesus

Luke 17: 11-19 Healing of the 10 Lepers Return of the Grateful Samaritan

Luke 7: 36-48 Jesus Anointed by a Sinful Woman Parable of 2 Debts

Area #3: Compassion Models Jesus

Matthew 12: 11-12 11 He said to them, “If any of you has a sheep and it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will you not take hold of it and lift it out? 12 How much more valuable is a man than a sheep! Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.”

on the Sabbath day from what bound her?”   Luke 13: 15-17 15 The Lord answered him, “You hypocrites! Doesn’t each of you on the Sabbath untie his ox or donkey from the stall and lead it out to give it water? 16 Then should not this woman, a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has kept bound for eighteen long years, be set free on the Sabbath day from what bound her?”  17 When he said this, all his opponents were humiliated, but the people were delighted with all the wonderful things he was doing.

Mark 3: 4-5 4 Then Jesus asked them, “Which is lawful on the Sabbath: 11 4 Then Jesus asked them, “Which is lawful on the Sabbath: to do good or to do evil, to save life or to kill?” But they remained silent.  5 He looked around at them in anger and was deeply distressed at their stubborn hearts

Area #4: Love Mirrors Jesus

Matthew 5: 43-45 44 But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for 43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 that you may be sons of your Father in heaven.”

Luke 6: 31-36 31 Do to others as you would have them do to you.  32 “If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even ‘sinners’ love those who love them. 33 And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even ‘sinners’ do that. 34 And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even ‘sinners’ lend to ‘sinners,’ expecting to be repaid in full. 35 But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. 36 Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.

he said, ‘I canceled all that debt of yours because Matthew 18: 32-33 32 “Then the master called the servant in. ‘You wicked servant,’ he said, ‘I canceled all that debt of yours because you begged me to. 33 Shouldn’t you have had mercy on your fellow servant just as I had on you?’”

Questions to Answer: 1.) Are you living in a state of unbelief regarding Jesus Christ? 2.) Are you humbly grateful or grumbly hateful? 3.) Do you primarily spend time looking for ways to show God’s compassion or spending more time looking for excuses as to why you can’t be compassionate? 4.) Is your love typically more stingy or extravagant?
