RIPE Cooperation WG IGF update Maria Häll, Deputy Director Division of IT Policy Ministry of Enterprise, Energy and Communications To start with I would like to say that we have done a huge work together during this time. I think that EU has contributed to many good steps forward in the Internet Governance area. We have been active, a bit pushy, but the most important I think is that we have cooporated and worked together, and it has for sure been a very busy autumn. A lot of things have happened in this huge area but we have managed to react and contribute, together. Not only with one voice, but with common messages. From the Presidency of course, on behalf of the EU, but also many other voices, from MS and the Commission. But also from the EU Parlamentarians. That have made us strong.

The IGF meeting was very busy The IGF meeting was very busy. We had a lot of EU meetings with different stakeholders and my minister Åsa Torstensson had a speech at the Opening session, and here is the Press release from that event.

EU messages on IGF Internet - a global network that is open, global, resilient and accessible to all Respect for human rights, freedom of expression and privacy on Internet IGF is an important platform for global discussions and change of ideas and experiences IGF should continue another five years IGF should remain its multi-stake-holder approach IGF should remain its non decision body IGF could be further developed (visibility, engage more countries etc)

Enhanced cooperation An action request to all stakeholders to please compile and submit by November 15, 2010, a policy statement on ‘enhanced cooperation’ for the UN Secretary General’s ongoing consultations in New York. Your submission can be entered at this website: http://www.unpan.org/dpadm/wsisfollowup/

Enhanced cooperation - SE Sweden believes that enhanced cooperation is already present in many different for a, IGF, ICANN (GAC), IETF, Regional Internet Registries (RIRs), ISOC, local and regional IGF’s and (with not with a fully multi-stakeholder approach) OECD, UNESCO, ITU, WTPF, WIPO etc. We do not believe there is a need to initiate a separate process regarding enhanced cooperation, support existing foras SE "Internet days“, Swedish reference group for Internet Governance, RGIG, (government, private sector, civil society, academia and technical community)
