Cosmogony trying to explain the existence of us

Cosmogony? Cosmogony is any scientific theory that attempts to explain the origin of the universe and/or our existence in it…it is just a big, scientific sounding word for a creation myth. While these myths and theories are fictional, many are based on newly proven scientific fact, and long standing religious belief.

Creation Myth? Remember, a myth is simply a story we make up to explain an natural event, a happening, or phenomena we don’t understand. (the rising and setting of the sun for example). So a creation myth is a story that attempts to explain how the world was created. There are generally 3 types: Primordial Myths Ex-Nihilo Myths Multi-Stage Myths

Primordial Myth ? A primordial myth explains that the universe was created from chaotic and featureless matter…stuff. This stuff is formless at first but morphs, changes and grows into the world we live in now. Chinese P’an-Ku - Egg Japanese Izanagi & Izanami - Ocean

Ex-Nihilo Myth? An ex-nihilo myth explains that the universe was created by the hand of a god. This god then begins creating the world we live in now from nothing. Christian Genesis Samoan Tangaroa

Multi-Stage Myth? A multi-stage myth explains that the universe was created in multiple stages. These myths can be primordial or ex-nihilo as long as the world as we no it was created one stage at a time. Scientific Big Bang Theory Greek Uranus & Gaia

What’s Our Myth? How is the Christian Mythology different than the Native American Mythology?
