Jobs of The President

Electoral College Electoral College: voters choose electors from each state (Number of Representatives + Two Senators) 1. The electors from each state vote for President and Vice President 2. Census taken every 10 yrs. determines number of representatives/electoral votes for each state

Electoral College Reasons Why Some Want to Change the Electoral System: “winner takes all” system: no matter how close popular vote is (# of actual votes for each candidate), the winning candidate gets all the electoral votes (ex. NY has 29 electoral votes, whoever wins NY gets all 29) There have been 4 times when the winner of the popular vote didn’t win the electoral vote - 1824, 1876, 1888 & 2000 (Bush v. Gore) Electors are not required to vote for the candidate who wins their state

What power of the President do you believe is the most important? Why? Closing Question: What power of the President do you believe is the most important? Why?
