Description of Formative Performance Task: You will watch a video to learn about the settlement of the Great Plains. Steps: 1. Open the SeeSaw app. Scan the QR Code to access the video ‘Every Foot in Sight Can be Plowed’ in SeeSaw. Watch the video, paying attention to the information presented. AUGMENTATION Grade 7 Unit 3 Formative Performance Task 2 AUGMENTATION Topic: What role did geography and technology play in settlement and regional diversity? Description of Formative Performance Task: You will label a map of the Great Plains. Steps: Now that you have watched the video, it is time to look at the region discussed. Using the map in the Liberty Bell textbook on pages R2-R3 as a resource, label the map on SeeSaw. To label the map, place the transparency over the iPad and use the draw tool to trace the outline. Then label the rivers and cities listed. MODIFICATION Grade 7 Unit 3 Summative Performance Task 3 MODIFICATION Topic: What role did geography and technology play in settlement and regional diversity? Description of Summative Performance Task: You will interview your partner to answer questions related to the video. How did the geography of the Great Plains influence how people built their homes? How did technology change the way people gained access to water? What advantage was there in using the plows described in the video? Why was it important to ‘harrow’ the land? Featured Source: SeeSaw Featured Tech Tools: iPad Steps: The student whose first name starts with the letter closest to ‘A’ will answer the first two questions while the other student videos their response. Students will then reverse roles and the second student will answer the third and fourth question. To video student response, use the following process: Tap the green + at the top of the screen. Select video on the next screen, tap the green camera and begin the video. Do NOT stop the video until the second person has completed their answers. To stop the video, tap the red pause button, then the green check in the top right corner. Preview the video and then tap green check mark. Select your student id and then the green check. Your video is now on SeeSaw.
