ELiTES The acronym ELiTES stands for: ET LCGT Telescopes: Exchanges of Scientists It is an initiative supported (2012-2016) by the European Commission under FP7-people ELiTES supports the exchange of GW scientists between EU and Japan and the Japanese counterpart set-up a mirror initiative, a core-to-core initiative funded by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science ELiTES aims to the joint development of technologies for next and far future GW research infrastructures Very active and productive EU-Japan links are sustained through ELiTES

ELiTES activities WP1, WP2:Suspensions materials, fibres WP1: Suspensions design and test WP3: Infrastructures & Vacuum apparatuses WP2: Coatings

4th ELiTES meeting This is the forth ELiTES meeting hosted by the European Delegation in Japan Honoured by this opportunity Outreaching activities: 2 talks on GW research The Gravitational Waves research in the world, Prof. Jim Hough: is a graduate of the University of Glasgow where he became Professor of Experimental Physics in 1986 and is currently the emeritus holder of the Kelvin Chair of Natural Philosophy. JH has been Director of the University's Institute for Gravitational Research from 2000 to 2009 and is now Associate Director. Currently he is a Research Professor in Natural Philosophy at the University of Glasgow and a Visiting Professor in Physics at the University of Strathclyde and was Chief Executive of the Scottish Universities Physics Alliance from 2011 till 2015. The GW research in Japan, Prof. MasakMasaki Ando got Ph.D at Department of Physics, the University of Tokyo in 1999. MA is currently an Associate Professor of Department of Physics, the University of Tokyo and also National Astronomical Observatory of Japan. Research interests are on gravitational-wave astronomy and experiments related Relativity. An EO (Executive Office) and SEO (Systems Engineering Office) member of the KAGRA project, and a vice leader of a space gravitational-wave mission DECIGO.
