Background Japan Foundation (JF) Center for Global Partnership (CGP) Established in 1972 with headquarters in Tokyo and a network of 22 overseas offices in 21 countries worldwide.  In the U.S. there are offices in New York and Los Angeles Mission: to promote international cultural exchange and mutual understanding between Japan and other countries. Center for Global Partnership (CGP) Established within the Japan Foundation in 1991 with offices in Tokyo and New York. Mission: to strengthen the global US-Japan partnership and cultivate the next generation of public intellectuals necessary to sustain this partnership.

Possible Grant Programs to Support JET Alumni Chapters

Grassroots Exchange & Education Grassroots Exchange Discretionary Grant: Aims to create new networks and strengthen existing networks between non-profit organizations and citizens groups in the U.S. and Japan around common social issues. Education Grant: Supports teacher training, curriculum development and community outreach efforts addressing the needs of K-12 students, teachers and the larger community.

Arts and Cultural Exchange JFNY Grant for Arts and Culture: Supports projects that will further understanding of Japanese arts and culture. Priority will be given to those projects that have secured additional funding from sources other than the Japan Foundation. Exhibition of World Heritage Sites in Japan: Offers the World Heritage photo panels to cultural and educational institutions throughout the U.S., to introduce the breadth of these great cultural heritage sites in Japan. Samurai Warrior Helmet and Armor: Two sets of samurai armor (replicas) are available for loan and use at Japanese cultural events. They can be worn.

Japanese Language Education (JFLA) Japanese-Language Learners Event Grant: Supports for Japanese-language related events on the national/state/regional levels (speech contests, quiz contests, or presentational events, etc.) . Japanese Teaching material purchase Grant: Assists educational institutions in the U.S. to purchase teaching materials (textbooks, audio-visual materials, dictionaries, digital learning software, teachers’ reference books, etc.) for their Japanese- language courses by providing financial support. Japanese-language Education Project Grant: Provides financial assistance for projects which promote Japanese language education on the national/state/regional levels. The project should benefit a wide range of educators/learners in the region or nationwide. JFLA accepts applications from educational institutions/organizations in the U.S., not from individuals.
