Presentation transcript:

About Medication Orders Med Administration times are determined based upon the routine schedules for particular frequencies ( ie Q6H = 12-6-12-6). The estimated NEXT SCH administration time will be denoted but may be changed by selecting NOW or typing another time/ date. If you want a specific time order the VAR freq and then specify the start time ie q6hvar with a start time of 1400 would place the med on a 1400-2000-0200-0800 schedule Patients with meds ordered using the when to start as “First Dose NOW” will receive an extra dose in addition to the regularly scheduled times When modifying an existing med order, select ‘First Dose NOW’ ONLY if the dose is to be given NOW. Otherwise, please select ‘Next Scheduled’

This info does NOT include meds given in the ED or the OR. Medication Administration History is displayed in WIZ when you click on the med in the left window. This may be reviewed to determine the schedule of administration & the last dose. This info does NOT include meds given in the ED or the OR.

Improper ordering can lead to inappropriate dosing MD wanted to decrease dose but to keep Q12h schedule- if MD chooses when to start NOW pt will get a dose now in addition to the 2 q12h scheduled doses. Choose NEXT SCH option for default scheduling & will keep pt on the same Q12h med schedule. Selecting NOW will schedule a dose for now & then place on a 10-22 schedule.
