Integrated Risk Management Systems Consider it Safe HACCP Software for Risk Management in Aged Care Facilities

Integrated Risk Management Systems Consider it Safe Background Software Solution Overview Advantages Future Vision Conclusion Index.

Integrated Risk Management Systems Consider it Safe Background. Why do aged care centers need a food safety plan? What systems and processes need to be put in place? Steps to develop a food safety plan. Software to assist in the development and maintenance of food safety plans. Key features and Benefits of the Haccp Enterprise Action tool

Integrated Risk Management Systems Consider it Safe Why do we need food safety plans? Vulnerable populations may suffer a range of health problems and many people may be immuno-suppressed, making them more susceptible to food poisoning.(1) The latest Australian model food bill has been agreed by the Australian heads of government. The new model bill dramatically increases the penalties for offences. (up to $100,000 and or 2 years prison for individuals and up to $500,000 for corporations.).(2) Residents, patients, the community, employees, shareholders, and suppliers benefit from a good corporate image. Proposed Government legislation requires all food premises to have a food safety plan.

Integrated Risk Management Systems Consider it Safe What systems need to be in place? The Government standards for food safety are: Standard Food Safety Programs (proposed) Standard Food Safety Practices and General Requirements Standard Food premises and equipment (3) The model food safety bill suggests that a documented food safety plan complying with standards can be used as defense of due diligence. (2) The accepted industry system for food safety is called the Hazard Analysis of Critical Control Points (HACCP). This system produces a documented food safety plan. To be effective the food safety plan must be tailored to the specific business environment in which it is used. You can not simply buy it off the shelf.

Integrated Risk Management Systems Consider it Safe Before developing your plan Management commitment A budget to develop the plan Training and an understanding of food safety Either a) Training and experience in the development of HACCP based food safety plans. Or b) Appointment of a suitably qualified consultant Resources to develop/ implement/ administer the plan on an ongoing basis. Development of a HACCP based food safety plan Internal and external audits of the plan for accreditation

Integrated Risk Management Systems Consider it Safe 14 steps to developing a plan 1.Designate someone responsible for the plan 2.Assemble a team of people who work across the business 3.Describe the food and its distribution 4.Identify the intended use and consumers of the food 5.Develop flow diagrams to identify all of the steps in your process 6.Confirm the flow diagram on site 7.Identify food safety hazards for each step in the flow diagram 8.Determine the hazards that are critical for food safety 9.Establish safe limits for the critical hazards 10.Establish a system to monitor and control the critical hazards 11.Establish actions to take if critical hazards occur 12.Verify that the food safety plan is working 13.Write appropriate procedures and keep critical hazard records 14.Revise and update the plan on an ongoing basis

Integrated Risk Management Systems Consider it Safe Software Solution Overview. Whether you are just starting to develop or have a fully developed food safety plan, software will reduce the time it takes to develop and administer a food safety plan by up to 90%, while letting you get on with the important things - your job! When choosing software it is essential that it has been developed in your country to suite your countries legislative requirements. You will also need local support and training in its instillation and use. For these reasons we recommend the use of the ISES Plan Development Module (Heat) from Icon Global Link. This cost effective software system will help you to develop and maintain effective food safety plans while minimising the cost to your business.

Integrated Risk Management Systems Consider it Safe Software Solution Overview. Software is based on Codex HACCP Ability to use the HACCP approach for other risk management systems Ties together auditing of risk management Web based SQL database for capturing critical data from the business online Links to hand held or RFID devices for data capture Web based statistical process control and reporting with real time notification of non compliance Linking of quality management systems to traceability, approved suppliers, and e commerce. Global training, implementation and support

Integrated Risk Management Systems Consider it Safe Software Solution Overview. The software assists in the management of your food safety support programs including: Approved Suppliers Training Calibration Cleaning and Sanitation Personal Hygiene Pest Control Product Recall Food safety issues register A complete audit module for internal and external audits has been set up for your use.

Integrated Risk Management Systems Consider it Safe Advantages. The entire food safety plan can be developed and managed from one software application. This means that people with only limited computer skills can effectively maintain the plan. If you are using qualified consultants they can modify the plan over the internet and save time and money. You will also have a plan that is always up to date. The structure of the software application will ensure that you do not miss any important steps in your plan. The software automatically generates record sheets, reports and data entry tables and stores your procedures.
