Presentation transcript:

Is it time to panic now? You are the leader of the first manned mission to Mars! You’re near the end of your first walk on the surface of Mars. A Martian sandstorm is in the distance. It will reach you in about an hour. Another astronaut says they feel sick, and may be ill in their spacesuit. You can’t open the hatch on your spacecraft. It’s jammed! Another astronaut is complaining of hunger. You see a perfect opportunity for a photo of the sunset behind your spacecraft.

In this activity you’ll: Know what it means to be effective Know how to identify whether a task is urgent and / or important and respond appropriately Explain how to use tools to organise yourself (e.g. calendar, day planner) to help achieve your tasks and goals.

When might I need to set goals?

Do now Do next Manage these Wait Get your priorities right Priorities are your most important and urgent tasks Do these first! URGENT AND IMPORTANT Do now NOT URGENT BUT IMPORTANT Do next URGENT BUT NOT IMPORTANT Manage these Not URGENT or IMPORTANT Wait

Use your time well How long will each task take? When does it need to be finished? Add each task to your diary or calendar Use a daily to-do list.

Get on top of your tasks Gather everything you need to do Sort into priorities How long will each one take? Plan your calendar or diary Use a to-do list every day Plan in some down-time to relax and get your energy back.

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO DIFFERENTLY?
