Presentation transcript:

Writing Assignment Political correctness: “ demonstrating progressive ideals, esp. by avoiding vocabulary that is considered offensive, discriminatory, or judgmental, esp. concerning race and gender “ For this writing assignment, consider the necessity of political correctness. Explain how much you think people should be careful about what they say. Also consider what should be said plainly. Dedicate one paragraph to explaining how this applies to Huck Finn. Consider the following questions: What is more important: being honest or being careful? What types of things are not okay for someone to say in front of you? What situations make you censor yourself? When does a word/statement cross the line from being funny to being offensive? Are people overly sensitive in today’s society? Needs to be one page long and multiple paragraphs

Study the Picture you were just given Study the Picture you were just given. Brainstorm words that come to mind when you look at it (just use the back of the paper).
