The Angelfish By Jessica Rogers

This is the Angelfish we all think of, but it is not the only one This is the Angelfish we all think of, but it is not the only one. There are many more.

Scientific Name of the Angelfish Kingdom = Animalia Phylum = Chordata Class = Actinopterygii Order = Perciformes Saltwater Family = Pomacanthidae Freshwater Family = Cichlidae Genies = Pterophyllum Species = Scalare

Here are the different parts of the Angelfish.

Angelfish Habitat The freshwater angelfish are found in the Amazon River. The saltwater fish live among the coral reefs.

This is a freshwater Angelfish.

This is a baby saltwater Angelfish.

Feeding Angelfish feed on all of the following. Algae Sponges Tiny plants Mysis shrimp Brine shrimp Shellfish

This Angelfish is eating a barrel sponge.

Behavior Angelfish tend to travel in groups of two. Angelfish can also travel in harems consisting of one male and several females. They align their bodies parallel to other angelfish. There is a fight for dominance in this group.

Reproduction Angelfish reproduce by spawning. The spawning takes place in the water column above the reef. Tiny larvae are formed, they go through several complex developmental stages, before becoming adults.

This is the blue faced Angelfish.

This is the Royal Angelfish.

This is the Queen Angelfish.

This is the French Angelfish.
