Europe is a continent that is divided into many small nations due to the old feudal system of knights fighting to control small kingdoms.

World War II began in 1939 when Germany invaded Poland World War II began in 1939 when Germany invaded Poland. The devastation of this war resulted in the cooperation between European nations.

Because Europe is a peninsula of peninsulas many countries have access to the sea. This is important for trade and economic growth.

The Industrial Revolution The industrial Revolution started in England in the 1700s. The textiles were the first industry to be produced in factories. It changed the way people lived and worked forever. It changed from producing goods by hand to using machines.

Renaissance and the Reformation People were interested in learning. The printing press was an invention that made the written word available to more people. They were learning how to read. They begin reading the Bible and started to think for themselves. They questioned what the leaders of the Catholic church had be telling them. New denominations of churches were started protesting the Catholic church.
