What’s Wrong with that Plant?

A big part of keeping a plant alive is making sure that the soil the plant is in is healthy. Key nutrients plants need are: Phosphorus Potassium Nitrogen

Lack of Nitrogen Stunted plants, pale color, light green or yellow if sever Occurs on older foliage first For corn, the lower leaves have a yellow “v” pattern along midrib Caused commonly by an over amount of carbon in the soil.

Lack of Phosphorous Turns edge of the leaves purple and slows down growth Cause most often by wet/cool weather needed for the plant and clay based soils

Lack of Potassium (AKA potash deficiency) Appears on older leaves first, and is strongest at edge, advancing inward Commonly found in sandy soils
