Type of Bones and Joints Skeletal System Notes Type of Bones and Joints

What types of bones do we have in our body? #1: Spongy Bone- Found inside the compact bone, and is where blood cells are made in the bone marrow.

What types of bones do we have in our body? #2: Compact Bone- Solid and hard covering of the outside of bones. It is extremely strong.

What types of bones do we have in our body? #3: Hollow Bone- These bones have an air cavity inside. This allows them to be lightweight and easily move.

What is a joint? A joint is where two bones come together to allow movement.

What is a hinge joint? Allows back & forth movement. (Ex: Knee)

What is a pivot joint? These joints allow rotation (Ex: Neck)

What is a ball-and-socket joint? These joints allow free movement (Ex: Hip and Shoulder)

WHAT IS DOUBLE JOINTED?
