Cornerstone

Cornerstone Earn college credit while still attending your high school Courses are actual CWU classes Taught by your high school teacher (Adjunct faculty) 10th, 11th and 12th grade students can take college classes

Why would I want to participate? Earn college credit and high school credit Your college credit can be transferred to any college in the state of Washington Most out-of-state colleges also accept the credit Save MONEY What you pay is 75% cheaper than normal tuition at CWU $55 per credit (5 credit class X $55= $275) Earning credit is NOT determined by a single test (like AP) You earn your grade through the work you do in class A college class on a HS campus allows for more time with subject matter/teacher

Importance of Dual Credit National Studies find that dual credit participation is related to Increased HS graduation/college enrollment rates Better college grades, persistence Increased likelihood of earning a college degree/professional certificate By 2018, 2/3 of all jobs will require at least some post-high school education or training.

Cost of Education Tuition Increases - Private vs. Public Public National Avg. $9,410 vs Private $32,405 CWU Room and Board $11,000 CWU tuition $6,000 for 2017-2018 AY CWU $464.70 per credit (not including fees) 15 credits saves a CWU student on average $1,698

This means you are completely withdrawn from CWU and not taking any classes W means withdrew and it does not effect your GPA or standing Hardship Withdrawal= Still have to pay for the class* and receive a HW on official college transcripts. Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act. FERPA Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act. Works the opposite way at a Higher Education Institution FERPA gives parents certain rights with respect to their children's education records.  Parents should understand that their rights transfer to the student when he or she reaches the age of 18 or attends a postsecondary school at any age. Students to whom the rights have transferred are "eligible students."  (http://familypolicy.ed.gov/ferpa-parents-students)
