I can examine and compare the 2 divisions within Islam: Sunni & Shia. 7.7 Analyze the origins and impact of different sects within Islam, Sunnis and Shi’ites.

It divided the Muslims into 2 groups: Sunni – Believe that the caliph can be voted into office and can be anyone Shia/Shites – Believe that the caliph must be a descendent of Muhammad.
