The Crucible fallacy project Hasty generalization By: Cody Baines

Hasty generalization- drawing a conclusion from a sample size, rather than looking at statistics that are much more in line with the typical or average situation.

Type of fallacy: hasty generalization Character committing fallacy: Mrs. Putnam She ails as she must-she never waked this morning, but her eyes open and she walks, and hears naught, sees naught, and cannot eat. Her soul is taken, surely. ACT 1 pg. 172-173 Mrs. Putnam is jumping to conclusions just because she doesn’t get up this morning and is sleep walking and saying that her soul is taken.

Type of fallacy: hasty generalization Character committing the fallacy: Mrs. Putnam It is a marvel. Surely a stroke of hell upon you. ACT 1 pg. 172 Mrs. Putnam is jumping to conclusions again with Bettys sickness with saying her not waking this morning is the devil controlling her.
