Status on Q4 short model 2nd mock up in fabrication WP3 April 20th 2016

Status on Q4 short model Layer jump appears too tight in mock-up #2 Several layer jump design are being tested Coil fabrication tooling: drawings completed Modification will be required for layer jump Collaring press Visit at CERN on 12/13th of April Discussion with Glyn Kirby on thecnical aspects Need to plan for another visit to discuss with Juan Carlos Perez Collar drawings are being finalized Discussion started and ongoing with Arnaud Foussat toward integration and procurement WP3 April 20th 2016

Status on Q4 short model Cable dimensions discrepancy from various sources: ROXIE cadata: 0,78/0,91 => 0,845 mid thickness LHC design report: 0,84 mid thickness MQM cable spec: 0,77/0,91 => 0,840 mid thickness In stock (from J. Fleiter): Keystone deg   0.879 Width mm        8.819 mid thick mm  0.841 ROXIE case with 0,0825mm of insulation around the cable (to compensate): 0,89 units of b6 In reality: 0,085mm of insulation on the inner edge and 0,080 mm on the outer edge Impact on field quality to be quantified Impact on pre-stress => seems marginal Width? => cable in stock seems out of spec In any case, for consistancy => we think we need to rework the magnetic design Could be available in ~3 weeks Concern: designer availability => in discussion at CEA Back-up plan on CERN side? Spec MQM cable Inner edge Outer edge WP3 April 20th 2016

The short model design and fabrication is progressing but… At CEA: Same resources for Q4 short model and QuaCo => strong impact (several months of delay) of QuaCo on short model progress WP3 April 20th 2016
