If someone different is picking your child up from time to time, please inform the class teacher at dropping off time, or the school office. If you have any questions/queries please come and see us at the end of the day and we can arrange to see you for a short meeting after school if these need further discussion. Please ensure your child brings a water bottle daily and their uniform is all named! Please make sure shoes are sensible and they bring a proper coat if it is wet. We try and combine spelling and handwriting practice. * Weekly spellings- please practice regularly over the week. We complete a weekly fun dictation in the back of homework books so that you can track progress. We try and combine spelling and handwriting practice. The spellings are organised around spelling rules / patterns- with the addition of high frequency words that the children need to learn to spell.

All homework is revision of work that has been taught in class. Homework books are sent home every Friday and need to be returned every Wednesday. The expectation is that all children complete homework- we ensure that all children will have homework at the appropriate level. Please tell us if you have any concerns. All homework is revision of work that has been taught in class. TT rock stars- children will have a timed times table challenge every week.

Maths -Key instant recall facts.

P.E We would like PE kit in school all week- we often have visiting providers or need to be flexible with space! We are encouraging children to be independent changing and develop responsibility for their own belongings- but please name everything to help us reunite clothes and their owners! We are restarting the daily mile - please ensure children are wearing appropriate footwear every day.

Behaviour We have very high expectations of behaviour across the school. We use rewards systems and positive modelling of expected behaviour. As a class we have made our own rules and have discussed the consequences if they are broken.

* Trips and visitors This year we are going to be asking for a total contribution for the term’s trips, visitors, special days and activities. This may vary in cost from half term to half term as we have different activities planned – e.g. swimming, residential. A letter will be sent home soon detailing the trips and the cost involved .We always try to get the best value for money! Some of our trips include:- Kew Gardens The Globe Thames Young mariners residential

Reading We use the Accelerated reading programme in Year 4 * We use the Accelerated reading programme in Year 4 The children know their ZPD scores- they are encouraged to pick books from this range. All children should bring their reading book home everyday and return it to school daily- children have the opportunity to quiz every day.
