Lesson: Across the Globe: Japan Miss. Annamarie Leach Elementary Art Class ~ March 2017

Audience Grades K-5 Basic to Advanced Curriculum 24 to 30 students per class Audience

Focusing In Students are successfully able to understand the major aspects of the Japanese culture and create an image or item from their studies that reflects what they have learned.

Main PowerPoint (instructional videos, extra projects, wiki assignment) Watercolor paper and watercolor paint Brushes and water Paper towels Aprons Materials

Procedure

Week 1 Week 2 Week 3 Week 4 Final Week Go over the Main PowerPoint and introduce Wiki assignment. Add the cherry blossom tree and pink cherry blossoms. Students should have finished their main art project and wiki assignment. Week 1 Week 2 Week 3 Week 4 Final Week Add Japanese writing on the side of painting. Add any small details that need to be retouched. Start working on painting background.

Homework The only outside project that students should be working on alongside of the main art project is the Wiki Assignment. Students should be able to locate the Wiki link on the Across the Globe: Japan page. They should answer all four questions in complete sentences and follow the directions and steps also located on the Across the Globe: Japan page.
