sixth grade life science MISS CORBETT sixth grade life science Materials & Supplies overview 8 ½ x 11" spiral notebook  1" binder  Ball point pens  Pencils  Basic colored pencil set  Red correcting pends  Highlighters  Welcome to 6th grade Life Science! We will be spending our time on the very smallest of organisms in the world around us. Units of study Structure & Function Genes & Molecular Machines Ecosystems & Their Interactions Carnivores of the Pacific Northwest Grading: Learning Activities and Assessment Tools:  Our assessment process is multi-faceted. Students will have an opportunity to self-assess their collaboration, citizenship, work habits, and ability to take initiative. Teachers will monitor scientific journals, completion of projects and assignment, as well as tests and quizzes. Grades are 100% based off of the assessment tools listed above. Attendance policy Students who are absent are required (upon their return) to follow school procedures to make up missing assignments. Generally speaking, students will receive the same number of days as the absences to make up any missing assignment(s).  If you are feeling overwhelmed with makeup work, please communicate with your teacher to come up with a plan to complete the assignments Syllabus

THE ROOM 10 WAY responsibility respect accountability Attitude/ effort Contact Info Email: corbettm@issaquah.wednet.edu Phone: (425) 837-6940 Website: connect.issaquah.wednet.edu/middle/maywood/staff/ms_corbett_site/ expectations absences - Follow directions set forth in the lab safety outline.  - Come prepared to work in a lab setting with all expected materials.  - Raise your hand during class discussions.  - No food allowed in class. Water is allowed in sealed containers.  - Academic integrity is incredibly important. Students caught plagiarizing or cheating will receive a zero on the test or assignment.  - Respect everyone—even if someone has an idea that you may not find agreeable.  If absent, it is the student’s responsibility to gather what you missed (assignments, notes, etc.) either in the classroom or online (links are found on the Maywood Middle School homepage).  If there was an assignment given, the worksheet is attached and guidance can be found in the blog for the day. Students will need to be proactive and independently coordinate if they need additional instructional time or assistance with what they missed. Upon returning, turn in the work with "absent" written on the top of the assignment.  In this class, we respect each other. We support each other, and this class is a safe space for all of us. It is important that we are kind, respectful, understanding, open- minded and consider- ate of each other. You are the only person responsible for your actions, behavior and your grade! Come to class prepared and on time, do your work and study hard. Good things will happen if you do! respect responsibility THE ROOM 10 WAY I believe in you. I am here to support you, teach you and believe in you! But you must keep yourself account- able as well. You are the only person responsible for handing in your work, studying hard, and respecting yourself and others. Nobody can make you do anything, only you can make yourself do what you need to do! Come to class with a positive attitude. Be ready to work hard, ask questions, collaborate, and have fun! Make good choices. Effort and attitude are the keys to success. I support you and believe in you and am always here to help you if you need it! Attitude/ effort accountability
