Treasures in heaven (Rejoice in the Lord 2012)
Presentation transcript:

What I Gave I Have What I Spent I Had What I Left I Lost Giving is like putting money in the bank of heaven. Disciples of Christ are to be sacrificial givers, and that requires that they have a strong work ethic and exercise self-control when it comes to spending.

“What I Gave I Have” Storing Up Eternal Treasure We are to use our money to make friends in heaven (Luke 16:19) When we share what God has given us, we are storing it in heaven (1 Timothy 6:17-19; Matthew 6:19-20; Luke 12:31-34)

“What I Gave I Have” Disciples must be Willing to Give The rich young ruler had kept the commandments, but he could not follow Christ without learning to give (Matthew 19:21; Mark 10:21)

“What I Gave I Have”. Good Givers Learn to “What I Gave I Have” Good Givers Learn to Earn & Spend with Self-Control We are to work to enable us to give (Ephesians 4:28; Proverbs 21:25-26) Paul left us an example (2 Thessalonians 3:7-12; Acts 20:33-35) Jesus is our ultimate example, who “though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich.” (2 Cor. 8:9)
